Happy 40th Birthday

On 9/12/08, Robert turned 40. (I know a little late with the post.) We had a party for him at our camp ground. Lots of fun, food and laughs were had by family and friends. It was an especially nice day, many memories were recalled by grandmom, Christine, Robert and Sean. They spent many childhood summers at Old Cedar. Many new memories were made throughout the weekend too, with all those who camped out with us.
The cake was made out of 60 vanilla and chocolate cupcakes. The icing was just delicious.
The reeds in the corners were made out of spaghetti dipped in chocolate. Pretty cool, huh.

Christmas in July

This was my first attempt at "Christmas in July" at our new camp site, Old Cedar Campground. We place 3rd in the contest for best decorated site. Unfortnately is was a little to hot for Santa to be all suited up. At least he was a sport and wore his hat, "oh well" there is always next year!

A touch of color

This is a small section of the beautiful view I have on my way to work. My ride is short (about 7 mins), and for the most part I am traveling along the creek. This is one of many creeks leading to the Delaware river in my area.

And if you look close or enlarge the photo, you will see that we still have geese migrating south.

And the winner is......

The Scarecrow! for the "Best Look Alike" costume.
It seems a little late for the annoucement, but with three shifts running and the judging being done by all the employees, you have to expect delays.
I had some really good competition. There were four catagories all together: scariest, funniest, most creative and best look alike.

If I only had a brain.....

Wait a minute! I think, I think, I have a thought coming.....Oh, Happy Halloween Everyone!

Halloween is not my favorite day but I do like being creative.

I had allot of fun making this costume. It was pretty easy too. The kids (nieces and nephews) all made faces at me because it was not scary or bloody enough, but it works out just fine for me.

These are two of the pumpkins I did while camping. Again, I was trying to be creative and the kids were not excited about my ideas. I wanted to use some things from the outdoors to dress them up.
Now this one they liked.

End of the Season

Last weekend (10/21) was a very nice one but a sad one. We took our very last camping trip of the season which would also be our very last at the lake you see here. The Philadelphia based church has decided to close it down, do to some shananigan's. The weather was just perfect though. The two out in the boat are my husband Robert and my niece Andrea.

Around the lake there is a walking trail. So, I decided to set out on an adventure to the other side. Did I mention that the campground sits on about 265 acres, which most of it is lake. It took me about 45 minutes to get to the other side.
Along the way I snapped lots of pictures. This was such a beautiful shot, although I could not catch the suns rays like I wanted to as they were shinning through the leaves. The red color of the leaves was so vibrant.

When I finally reached the other side I found this kid, my nephew Sean. This section of the lake is normally reserved for swimming only, but they were allowing the kids to fish.
And that they did. He must have caught at least a half a dozen bass while I was resting for my long walk back to our site.
Later that day we painted pumpkins, celebrated my birthday and made smores by the fire.
Fun was had by all.

Crisp Fall Morning

We have finally gotten some rain here in the North. These shots are from the lake at our campground. It was a beautiful fall morning. We were going to go fishing but it was to breezy and a bit to cold for me to be on the water. The bottom picture is of Robert's boat, looks like a calendar shot to me. We went from 89 degree tempertures on Monday down to the 40's on Friday night. Boy o'boy the campfire was a sure thing on that night. More rain is expected this week, so I am sure to have some nice fall foliage soon.
